Strengthening Transparency and Efficiency through UN Women’s GMS Platform

Global
2012

Project Description

CSF supported UN Women in developing the Online Grants Management System (GMS) — an interactive digital platform that enhances transparency, coordination, and reporting across UN Women’s two global funding mechanisms: the Fund for Gender Equality (FGE) and the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women (UNTF).

The GMS provides an integrated space for managing grants, tracking progress, and sharing information across global, regional, and national levels. It streamlines the grant-making process — from proposal submission to project implementation and reporting — while offering real-time access to programmatic and financial data for UN Women teams and partners.

Through the GMS, grantees under both funds can efficiently report on results and expenditures, and UN Women can generate insights on grant performance, funding trends, and impact. This digital transformation effort aligns with UN Women’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and evidence-based programming in advancing gender equality worldwide.

Since its inception, the system has supported the management of over US$170 million in grants across 500+ programmes in more than 130 countries, helping amplify the reach and effectiveness of gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives globally.
