UNDP/WHO Mauritania Real Time Monitoring drug inventory and maternal deaths in health centersMauritania is combating high maternal mortality with the implementation of a mobile-based real-time monitoring (RTM) system to capture data at the health facility level on drug inventory and maternal deaths.The inter-agency initiative, a collaboration between WHO, UNFPA, and UNICEF, demonstrates the feasibility of a low-cost solution for regularly and easily capturing information on key indicators in the field. The system is an open-source RTM, using an off-the-shelf survey tool to capture data through surveys. Data is processed and aggregated to KPIs through an open-source ETL tool. Through the system, decision- makers will be able to monitor critical indicators like maternal mortality and link these to drug inventory.
