Building Zanzibar’s Capacity for Autonomous Data Systems
Project Description
As part of efforts to strengthen national capacity for autonomous data management, CSF collaborated with the Zanzibar Office of the Chief Government Statistician (OCGS) to establish Zanzibar Info, a national database and dashboard system integrating socioeconomic and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicators.
Beginning in 2019 under the Tanzania Socio-Economic Database (TSED) initiative, the project aimed to enable Zanzibar’s national counterparts to independently manage, update, and disseminate data aligned with the country’s development agenda (MKUZA) and the SDGs.
CSF supported the OCGS team in setting up a centralized database that allows data disaggregation by SDG, theme, and goal. In addition, a data-driven dashboard was developed to enhance accessibility and use of national data for decision-making. To ensure sustainability, two in-country training workshops were conducted to build technical capacity and promote ownership among national stakeholders.
