Strengthening Data Systems for SDG Monitoring in Egypt
Project Description
CSF in partnership with UNICEF Egypt, is supporting the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) to strengthen national data systems for sustainable development and child rights monitoring.
Through the Data System Strengthening project, CSF is assisting CAPMAS in developing an online platform for data storage, monitoring, and visualization to track Egypt’s progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The initiative builds upon earlier work in 2017, when CSF and the Government of Egypt collaborated to launch the SDG Monitoring mobile application, providing decision-makers with data visualizations through maps, charts, and graphs.
Under the current phase, CSF is deploying Data For All (DFA) Tools — including the DFA Dashboard Builder and DFA Visualizer — to enhance data accessibility and transparency. These tools are being integrated into a public-facing data portal that will serve as a national repository for SDG and child-related indicators.
To ensure sustainability, CSF has also provided capacity-building support to CAPMAS staff, strengthening their technical knowledge and operational management of the portal and associated tools. Together, these efforts are enabling Egypt to build a robust and citizen-focused data ecosystem that supports informed policy and public engagement.
