Advanced Data Lab Training for SDG Integration in Rwanda
Project Description
To enhance the use of data for monitoring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CSF partnered with UNICEF Rwanda and the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) to strengthen the RwandaInfo platform — the country’s national data dissemination system.
Originally developed to provide quick access to statistical data and monitor progress on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), RwandaInfo (a DevInfo-based platform) continues to play a central role in tracking the Agenda 2030 framework and Rwanda’s national development targets.
In 2017, CSF conducted an advanced data lab training for NISR data managers. The training focused on database updates, tagging existing indicators to SDGs, restructuring data frameworks, integrating new geographical levels of data visualization, and introducing the latest innovations within the Data For All (DFA) suite.
This capacity-building effort enabled NISR to modernize RwandaInfo, improve interoperability with national databases, and strengthen the country’s ability to use data for evidence-based policymaking and reporting on SDG progress.
