Building an Integrated Data Platform for Children’s Well-being in Belize

Belize
2018

Project Description

The BelizeInfo platform, originally developed in 2017 to provide socioeconomic data on citizen security, has evolved into a comprehensive system for managing and disseminating data on children’s well-being in Belize.

In 2018, the Ministry of Human Development, in collaboration with UNICEF and Community Systems Foundation (CSF), transitioned BelizeInfo, a DevInfo adaptation, into a Data For All (DFA)-based data management and dissemination system. The upgraded platform now integrates a wide range of indicators on crime and justice, economy and labour, education, health, environment, and social context, providing policymakers with tools to analyze and act on key social trends.

As part of the initiative, CSF supported government counterparts in visualizing data on the National Children’s Agenda (NCA) through interactive online dashboards. During the Belize NCA Workshop, participants received hands-on training on the DFA Data Warehouse and DFA Dashboard Builder, enhancing national capacity to manage, analyze, and disseminate child protection data.

This initiative has strengthened Belize’s institutional ability to promote evidence-based policymaking and ensure that social programmes effectively address the needs of children and families.
