With growing uncertainties in higher education due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, academic planners and decision-makers around the United States are adopting innovative measures to be more efficient, collaborative, and transparent in their efforts to achieve institutional priorities.



Utilizing DFA Monitoring to Strengthen Strategic Planning in Higher Education

To improve planning, monitoring and reporting processes within a higher education institution, Community Systems Foundation (CSF) supported Alma College to use the results-based monitoring tool called Data For All (DFA) Monitoring. This open-source software solution is now tracking the progress toward the Evergreen 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.



Health and Wellbeing Portal to Ensure Child Development in Andhra Pradesh

The School Health and Wellness Program (SHWP) was launched in February 2020 under the Ayushman Bharat Initiative (ABI) in India. It is a school based health promotion initiative that hopes to increase the hygiene and disease prevention efforts in school children.



Data For All Transition Strategies Webinars

Through this webinar, Jon F. Kapp, Executive Director of Community Systems Foundation, outlines a proposal to address new demands and challenges in international development data, introducing tools to improve the way data is collected, managed and utilized. In discussing ongoing projects in Cote D’Ivoire, Sudan and East Africa more broadly, Kapp highlights to viewers the power and potential of the Data For All toolkit as it relates to building new platforms and improving existing ones.



Organizational Implementations of DFA Monitoring

The final story in the DFA Monitoring series highlights how the tool has been adapted to support organizations in monitoring their strategic plans.

The first organization is Out4Undergrad,a US-based non-profit working to assist LGBTQ+ students as they move through university to next steps in their academic or professional career.

The second is Alma College, a small liberal arts college in Michigan, USA.

Alma College is the first higher education institution that has applied and benefited from DFA Monitoring.



National Implementations of DFA Monitoring 

Jamaica

Over the course of a several year partnership, Community Systems Foundation has worked with the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) to configure and roll out DFA Monitoring to monitor the status of national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a multi-sectoral initiative, DFA Monitoring is being used to track the progress being made in a broad socio-economic context.



Embracing a Culture of Monitoring and Evaluation in FGM Programming

Since 2008, the UN Global Joint Programme (JP) on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) has supported “more than 3.2 million girls and women in 17 countries” [1] The JP, a partnership between The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UNICEF has assisted with provision of appropriate and quality services, increased community-led engagement, legal and policy frameworks, government ownership and increased access to accurate and timely data.
