UNFPA Pacific strengthens regional data systems

Last November, CSF technical advisor, Christopher Tongbram provided direct training on key DFA tools to the UNFPA Pacific Sub-Regional Office (PSRO) members at their office in Fiji.

UNFPA PSRO includes 14 countries and territories from the Pacific Region that are recovering economically post-pandemic with focus on activities such as tourism, fishing, and agriculture.



Strengthening National WASH Implementation through the Reduction of Bottlenecks

In 2016, UNICEF’s Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Bottleneck Analysis Tool (WASH BAT) was updated by CSF to become an online and user-friendly platform called WASH BAT 2.0. In an effort to reduce barriers to WASH project implementation, WASH BAT 2.0 has acted as a decision-making support system for 848 projects in over 80 countries to reduce bottlenecks in the WASH sector.

Effective Programming Begins on the Inside: Strengthening UNAIDS with Better Data

​While 1.4 million new HIV infections have been averted since 2010, the disease continues to persist.  According to the Michel Sidibé, UNAIDS Executive Director, in 2017 alone, 180,000 children became infected with the virus. [1] Children, along with society’s most vulnerable populations — “adolescent girls and young women, indigenous peoples, migrants, the poor and uneducated, and key populations at highest risk of HIV infection—are being left behind.” [2]​



An estimated 617 million of children and adolescents of primary and lower secondary school age worldwide are not achieving minimum proficiency levels in reading and mathematics, according to the2019 SDG Progress Report of the Secretary General. Of these students, “about two-thirds are attending school but are not learning in the classroom or drop out of school.”From 21-24 May 2019, delegates from across South Asia gathered for theSouth Asia Statistical Capacity Development Workshop on Developing SAARC SDG4 Monitoring Framework.
