Strengthening Nutrition Data Systems in India
Project Description
In partnership with UNICEF and the Government of India, CSF developed the Nutrition India portal, dashboards, and mobile application to support data-driven planning and monitoring of nutrition outcomes across the country.
Launched in 2017, the initiative was designed to provide program managers and policymakers with easy access to key nutrition indicators and progress toward reducing anaemia, stunting, wasting, and low birth weight, among other priorities. In 2018, CSF further developed an umbrella portal integrating all nutrition-focused products, including Nutrition India and Anaemia Mukt Bharat, into a unified ecosystem.
Drawing on data from the Health Management Information System (HMIS), National Family Health Survey (NFHS), and Census of India, the platform features dynamic dashboards, interactive maps, and visual analytics. Users can disaggregate data by time, geography, and social group, and generate profiles at national, state, and district levels.
The Nutrition India suite of tools facilitates evidence-based decision-making, advocacy, and progress reporting, helping stakeholders align actions with India’s national and global nutrition targets.
