UN INFO Reaches Global Roll-out
The monitoring, planning and reporting tool being used by the United Nations to support the monitoring and tracking of progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has now been rolled-out to all UN Country Teams (UNCTs). With the final two teams from Mauritius and São Tomé and Príncipe coming on-board the platform, all 136 UNCTs are now officially tracking UN Sustainable Development Frameworks with UN INFO.
Since 2016, Community Systems Foundation (CSF) has supported the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) in the development and deployment of UN INFO. Since its inception, there has been a goal of launching workspaces for all UNCTs. Now, four years later, this incredible achievement has been realized!
Vijay Singh Chauhan, a Senior IT Manager with CSF, has worked directly on the UN INFO project since the beginning. When asked about his response to the global roll-out of UN INFO he mentioned that “The implementation of UN INFO highlights how a cutting edge technological solution can strengthen decentralized, unified and collaborative planning and monitoring.” He noted further that “The impact of UN INFO can be seen in its contributions to improving the lives of people all over the world. “
Built to support the UN in monitoring unique country level contributions to the SDGs, UN INFO has been designed and developed to be scalable, while retaining the ability to report up and aggregate data throughout the system. And, with a system in place, the UN has been able to quickly roll-out a framework to plan and monitor UN response to the COVID19 pandemic. Investment in system strengthening is paying off dividends.
What was only an idea four years ago has now become a rewarding investment in the transparency and accountability of UN programmes. This will ultimately benefit vulnerable populations at the heart of sustainable development initiatives. CSF applauds the efforts of UNDCO, on behalf of the UN System, and all UNCTs around the world on this momentous milestone.
